You may have read my post about “the” pants.
They are dubbed such for two reasons: 1. I’m so in love with them that they are my summer uniform, and 2. they are the pants that made me a bad influencer.
The story doesn’t end there, though. In addition to “the” pants, I have the “other” pants 🤣
On one of my posts about “the” pants over on Threads, a few folks offered up other options they love.
As someone who struggles to find pants that fit my “don’t think about my body” goal, I bought two of the suggestions.
The first to arrive were these Women's Harem Pants, High Waist Yoga Boho Trousers with Pockets in black. They were a definite no.
I bought true-to-size, 2X, and they were nowhere near as loose as the photo. They cling tight to the body, which makes me far too self-conscious, and the fabric is just heavy enough that it makes me very warm.
In short, these were exact opposite of “the” pants.
👉👉👉 Then I received the second suggested pants — Hooever Women's Cotton Linen Culottes Pants Elastic Waist Wide Leg Palazzo Trousers Capri Pant.
When I first put them on, I was worried. They reminded me of what I didn’t like about the first pair. They felt tight around the waist and hips, and the fabric seemed thick.
Disappointed, I did the squat-and-pray method and then left them on while I sat at my desk to handle a few tasks.
By the time I got back up to change pants, I noticed that they had relaxed a lot. I took another look and was pleasantly surprised. Turns out, I liked them.
Actually, I realized that I liked them a lot. I maybe even loved them. Maybe even as much (or more?) than “the” pants!
Why do they always show clothing on skinny women? She’s gorgeous, of course, but these pants go up to XX-Large and they don’t show one photo on a “plus-size” person. 🙄
Anywho…
These pants are amazing and I think they’ll be my winter uniform. Here’s why:
Unlike the poly blend of “the” pants, these are 70% cotton and 30% linen. I’m pretty sure that’s why they feel more substantial. They are most definitely not see-through like “the” pants.
Despite being heavier, they aren’t too warm. Warmer than “the” pants for sure, but not clingy and hot. They have really wide, flowy legs that act like vents. They may not be cool enough for really hot summer days, but I think they’ll be perfect for my perimenopausal body for most of the year.
They have a wide elastic waistband that doesn’t fold or bunch up.
There’s some actual design to these pants with the pleating and pockets.
I can dress them up or down.
They feel as comfy as pajamas, but they make me feel chic (and that’s not a word I think I’ve ever used for myself).
My plan for winter is to wear them with sweaters or a tee-and-cardigan combo. I’ll also switch from sandals to closed-toe shoes—Toms or my suede clogs most of the time, and I think I’ll try them with taller leather boots when it’s extra cold or snowy.
I and ordered these pants in yellow. For someone who owns mostly black and navy blue clothing, that was a wild choice! But I loved the photo and decided to take a risk—and it paid off!
These are more expensive than “the” pants ($31.99 vs. $19.99), so I’ve been slower to order multiples. I did get them in blue, and they are fine but they lack the wow of the yellow. Before the weather gets too cold, I plan to order the dark khaki and gray.
These only go up to XX-Large (unlike the 3X of “the” pants), which sucks because I think all companies should be far more size inclusive. And they only come in 8 colors, compared to 14 like the others.
Also, while these are called “capris” and look like that on the woman in the photo. She must be quite tall because I’m 5’7” and they fall just above my ankles. I prefer that to shorter, though, since I plan to wear them year-round.
Sorry that I suck at taking photos of myself in clothing, but I wasn’t lying when I said I’m bad at this influencing thing! 🤣
You’ll have to trust me when I say that I think they look good on me. But more importantly, I feel great in them. And, as someone focused on body neutrality, that’s a win!
Your biggest fan,
Becky
